Gary was
involved with horses as a young man. He participated
in 4-H and horse shows which included showing state champion
"Prince Jay". Susan was not involved personally with
horses as a child, but her Uncle Charlie had race horses and
provided for many great trips to the country south of
Cleveland. Both having an interest in horses certainly
helped in developing and maintaining Cabin Valley Farm
It has been exciting and rewarding. Gary is currently
the Executive Director for the Michigan Horsemen's
Benevolent and Protective Assn. which is the "certified
horsemen's organization" that represents Thoroughbred
horsemen and women racing in Michigan.
We enjoy
breeding, raising and racing Michigan Bred Thoroughbreds and
have been blessed with many successful horses, the most
recent being "Cantouchis", the Champion 3 Year
Old Filly, winner of the Plymouth Stakes, Michigan Oaks and
placing in several others while earning over $100,000.00.
She was bred and raised at Cabin Valley Farm. Raising
horses that are competitive is a great thrill, especially
after being there at birth and all the way to the winners
circle. We both love the business and are looking
forward to our next champion, which may already be here
among our foals or currently being carried by our mares for
foaling this spring.
